Our Story
St. John’s School was founded in 1982 as an exclusive Nursery School by Mrs. H.Thomas and Ms. J.D’Cunha. The school is situated amidst beautiful, tranquil tree covered surroundings at the upper end of Nainital. It is located just above the Nainital High Court adjoining the church of “St. John’s in the Wilderness” from where it derives its name. The school was then governed and run by Mr. S.Thomas and Mrs. E.Thomas. A hostel was added along with an addition of more classes to the existing nursery section. St. John’s School firmly believes in comprehensive and holistic quality education. The aim is to develop the social, physical, intellectual, emotional and moral potential of every student. We further polish these skills of our students to meet and overcome any challenges that they may face in the future.
The school provides for games, drama, music and other activities in and outside our campus. Our students participate in various competitions and tournaments and we are very proud to have won numerous accolades amongst our contemporaries. Beyond this, St. John’s School offers well-structured boarding and hostel facilities that focus on the holistic development of every child. Our boarding environment provides a safe, nurturing space where students live, learn, and grow together, building strong friendships, confidence, and independence. Beyond academics, boarding at St. John’s helps students develop essential social, emotional, and life skills, preparing them to take responsibility, adapt to new situations, and succeed both in higher education and in life.
